Longhorns had the week off to prep for Red River. Coming up on the main event.

  2. Ohio State, 5-0

The Buckeyes cruised to another Big 10 victory, 35-7 over Iowa. Autzen awaits.

  3. Oregon, 5-0

The Ducks indeed took care of an outmatched Michigan State squad, 31-10 ahead of their monumental matchup with Ohio State.

  4. Penn State, 5-0

The Nittany Lions creep into the top 4 after all the chaos of the week, and are sitting with a pretty straightforward path to the playoff.

    Next: @ USC

  5. Georgia, 4-1

The Bulldogs bounced back, albeit with a trademark slow start, to beat Auburn 31-13 in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. This team is still going to be a tough out for anyone.

  6. Alabama, 4-1

Ouch. A week after the high of the Georgia game, the Tide suffered national embarrassment at the hands of…VANDY. One of the great upsets in college football history, the Commodores prevailed 40-35 in a game that is sure to transcend time in Nashville. Watch out for those goal posts!

    Next: vs. South Carolina

  7. Miami, 6-0

This team is insane. A huge 25-point second half comeback led to a 39-38 victory over Cal in what was another controversial final minutes for the Canes. Still not sold on their chances but Cam Ward is a monster.

    Next: vs. Michigan State

  8. Tennessee, 4-1

Double ouch! The dream may have come crashing down for Vols fans after a 19-14 loss to Arkansas, with Alabama and Georgia still left on the schedule.

    Next: vs. Florida

  9. Iowa State, 5-0

Don’t look now but Matt Campbell has the Cyclones 5-0 for the first time since the 80s. Defense is legit.

    Next: @ West Virginia

  10. Ole Miss, 4-1

A week after the disappointment of the Kentucky loss, the Rebels bounced back with a dominant 27-3 victory over South Carolina. Their defense appears to be quite good, but we’ll find out more this weekend in Baton Rouge.

    Next: @ LSU

  11. Notre Dame, 4-1

The Irish are one the beneficiaries of upset Saturday, having had the bye week to sit back and watch the craziness just like the Longhorns. Games against the service academies suddenly look like their biggest tests remaining.

    Next: vs. Stanford
