Top 10 Rankings: Week 9
Michigan, 8-0
The Wolverines had a tumultuous off week.
Next: vs. Purdue
Ohio State, 8-0
The Buckeyes rolled out the 2023 script - slugging their way through a 24-10 win in Madison on the back of suffocating defense. Creeping every closer to #1.
Next: @ Rutgers
Georgia, 8-0
Georgia hammered Florida 43-20 in its first game without Brock Bowers. If they get through the rest of their schedule and he comes back, watch out for the two-time defending champions.
Next: vs. Missouri
Washington, 8-0
The Huskies had their second straight head scratcher, fending off a late Stanford upset bid 42-33. This team still controls its path to the CFP, but now faces a difficult stretch of 3 consecutive games against ranked opponents.
Next: @ USC
Florida State, 8-0
The Noles breezed to a 41-16 win over Wake, and have now won each of their last 4 games by at least 18 points. Getting hard to ignore this team as a national contender. Schedule looks extremely manageable to finish out an undefeated regular season.
Next: @ Pitt
Texas, 7-1
The Longhorns dominated on defense and special teams, and picked up a 35-6 win over BYU in Maalik Murphy’s first stint as the starting QB in place of the injured Quinn Ewers. Texas can win with the talent it has across the board, but its ceiling is not as high with Murphy as it is with Ewers.
Next: vs. Kansas State
Oregon, 7-1
The Ducks destroyed Utah on the road 35-6. Extremely dangerous team and playoff contender. They’ll still have a few remaining tests but notably get their most difficult opponents at home during this last stretch.
Next: vs. Cal
Alabama, 7-1
The Tide had an off week to prepare for the dynamic LSU offense coming to Tuscaloosa. SEC West will be decided this Saturday night.
Next: vs. LSU
Ole Miss, 7-1
The Rebels took care of business in a 33-7 win over Vanderbilt. Do not control their destiny in the SEC West due to the loss to Alabama. Can get back into the race with an LSU win in Tuscaloosa.
Next: vs. Texas A&M
Oklahoma, 7-1
Oklahoma suffered its first loss of the year in a 38-33 defeat to Kansas. Any playoff hopes are now seriously in doubt, and even a Big 12 championship berth is on the line with Bedlam this week.
Next: @ Oklahoma State
Penn State, 7-1
The Nittany Lions survived Indiana, 33-24. This does not look like a Big 10 championship contender. They get Michigan at home in a couple weeks to try and prove that wrong.
